Its mothersday here in March and i  wanted to make my mum a special card..its also her birthday in march so its always important to me to make 2 entirely different cards for her so that she can see at a glance which one is my valentines were blue this year and i had some of  the nice lattice hearts left that i had cut ( i liked it so much i cut rather a lot!!) and being me i have to use them up so heres my mothersday card incorporating the blue heart...

Firstly i got a brown card blank and decided to cut a lattice frame on my sil babes i then distress inked it with mustard...i used a makeup sponge to rub the ink over as i havent got the tim holtz tool to distress with so i use what i have...i then used the silhouette to write happy mothersday i cant remember the font i used but it was a handwriting one...i then cut out a scalloped border with my words in....

i then tried several layouts with my card and ended up putting my blue heart onto a plain white card as that made it sing out better than anything else i had tried..i still wasnt satisfied so i made a few flowers out of different papers and liked this one with the heart it is made from glitter paper and was just a circle cut and rolled..i tried the embellishment all over the card and it ended p near the right hand corner so the card needed something else? my hubby was sorting through my bigshot dies as it happens and i spied the butterfly die ..

so i cut it out with the big shot 3 times in a white card and distressed all 3 with faded jeans distress ink it is a little darker than the heart but that is the beauty of it i layered them together and folded the top 2 to give some interest..i then added some rhinestones to the body and anntennas of the butterfly and that was enough for this card..the colours would either clash or can make up your own mind...

  1. What a fun card! That's a lot of detail. Did you use sketch pens on the scalloped border also?

  2. Thank you Kelly i had taken the time to make sure the writting was there and then completely forgot to comment on it! Yes the writing was done in sketch on the sil with sakura gel pens...i love that you can do this with the sil..xx love debby
